Never giving up, willing to beat every rival, going over the limit, being himself, and so on....How many different elements were pointed out? The person had these great elements was the Great Ayrton Senna.....Even though many of his records have been broken by Michael Schumacher, his great personality, special capabilities, incredible races and amiable eyes are still remembered. In many people's view, Senna is still regarded as the greatest racing driver. Ayrton Senna da Silva was born in Sao Paulo, the industrial heart of Brazil. He was introduced to kart by his father making a kart when he was at age four. started real go-kart racing when he was seven, and became the Champion in South America a few years later. Unfortunately, Senna narrowly missed the World Championship in karting, and it rankled forever. He went to Europe in 1981 to start his racing career and to complete his dream. he lost no time in winning in Formula Ford 1600, then Formula Ford 2000, and F3 title in 1983. He had three F1 tests during 1983, which were the tests in Williams, Toleman and Mc'Laren teams. Particularly, he tested Williams FW-03 only half way through his F3 season at Donington Park. He pushed the car into limit and went faster than the regular drivers in the team.
He signed for Toleman in 1984. As poor reliability and capability of the car, Senna did not have much great performance in his first F1 season. However, he showed his amazing skill at Monaco Grand Prix in a heavy rain condition by almost beating the racing against Prost. In following 3 years, he switched to Team Lotus. However, the team was not the competitive team that they used to be in 1960s and 1970s. Senna managed to win his first ever pole and first ever win at Portugal Grand Prix in a heavy rain in 1985. He finished twice at the forth of driver championship in 1985 1986. In 1987, Senna won his fist Monaco Grand Prix, and being third in the World Championship.
In 1988, Ayrton Senna moved to Team Mc'Laren Honda, the most competitive team in the Formula 1 grid. Only to beat rival and teammate, Alain Prost, exhibited the same interest in the inner workings of his machinery, and Senna's ability to relate to his engineers precise technical feedback, not just from individual laps in different races on different circuits. He won 8 races against Prost's 7, Senna had his first World title. His unflinching commitment of beating Alain Prost in qualify of Monaco GP by 1.427 fully illustrated his extreme talent. The battle between Senna and his teammate, Alain Prost, was even more incredible in 1989. Particularly, at Suzuka, the second last race of season, Prost crashed Senna's car to secure his World title (Prost had 10 points more than Senna before entered the race) when Senna tried to overtake at the last corner. Senna's carried on the race and won the race. However, Senna's victory was disqualified by FIA, due to having help from the Suzuka circuit marshals. Eventually, he lost the World title, but Prost had to leave the Mc'Laren Team.
In 1990 and 1991, Senna and his Mc'Laren dominated Formula 1. He claimed his second and third World Title. The yellow helmet behind red and white Mc'Laren became the symbol of the sport. Controversially, Senna's frustration at losing the title to by Prost's action the previous year finally bubbled over as he deliberately rammed the Frenchman's Ferrari out of 1990 Japanese Grand Prix, and thereby recovered the crown he regarded as a birthright.
Mc'Laren Team was totally beaten by Williams Renault in 1992 and 1993. Mc'Laren car did not have pace at all. Senna was forth and second in the driver Championship, and only won 8 victories in these two years, including his amazing win at Donington Park in England, his sixth Monaco Grand Prix ( five in a row) and his last victory in Australia, both in 1993. The victory at Donington Park was the most unforgettable in Formula 1 history. Senna overtook 4 cars in front of him on the opening lap in extremely heavy rain, and flew away.
In 1994, Senna made his last team change in his life. He switched to the team which gave him first GP car try, Team Williams Renault. However, Senna had his worst season start in his career with double retirements in Brazilian Grand Prix and Pacific Grand Prix. May 1st, 1994, was the darkest day in Formula 1 history ever.
